Default Financial Associations?

Can you tell the cra's to cancell a financial association and can they say no?

I have a default that I am fighting but it is causing mrs dm problems with her perfect credit score?

They can say no if you can't prove there is no financial association and give sound reasons

My understanding of this is if you have joint accounts, then a financial association will be recorded. I never have joint accounts any more.
