I've popped in at the bottom of the thread, not read much apart from the last couple of entries (so excuse me if i'm repeateing something).

Contact the council and ask to speak to the housing officer for your area. Keep a log of any noise disturbance from the dog (as they'll ask for this anyway).

My home is privately owned and my neighbours is a local authority owned property.

Not that I have any real intention of taking them to Court, does anyone know if a) Could I say I am going to take the Council to Court as by not taking any action they have breached my human rights and b) will they be bothered

Thanks Guys
my neighbours were council tenants, we own our house, I put up with fighting (in the front garden), parties with music until 4am, dog barking all day, banging on the walls, etc for 9 months.

I first complained to the council, then their housing officer. I kept a diary, then involved the local environmental department.

I then informed the council that their tenants had devalued my property! If I ever wanted to sell my house I would have to inform potential buyers that I had an issue with my neighbours, therefore who is going to buy it????
I then moved onto my health, and how I was being affected by their behaviour, and I was on medication from my GP for my nerves

I think this was the final blow, they were gone in a month.....

Council had to go to court to get them out but I said I was willing to give a statement to the judge how I had suffered. In the end this was not needed.

I now have new neighbours who are great, although I think they may be vampires as they never seem to come out through the day........
But I suppose it's a small price to pay for peace and quiet

Having had experiences in various council offices as a worker, I would hazard a guess that the Penguin's post is not an April fool...

Cheers guys, I kept a log which I thought was very detailed.

However, in their opinion the noise did not last long enough on each occassion.

I can't see how they could reach that conclusion, at times it has been up to an hour of barking..

It is only a little dog too

Had a meeting with my MP last night (as it turned out, it was not with my MP, it was with his wife)

She has suggested that I enter into attribution. Basically she is going to arrange a meeting with me and my neighbour and an independent 3rd party.

I suppose that anything is worth a try
