What is a cmc ? If i was to act on his behalf then he would be liable for any costs. However if i am assigned the debt or he transfers it to me then he is clear of any costs

I am sure he can't assign the debt to you. Evenif it was allowed and it went belly up, you would have all the associated costs with it.

Claims Management Company, they have been buying debts for 1.00 and claiming back, now the FSA is after some them (shades of the Rankines)

I am not to worried about the costs. The main thing is to bring it to court and let a judge sort it out.
