Default Resolution & File Sizes

Hi Hocuspocus

Its me again

Mastered Image sizing so won't bore the viewers any more with that!

Head down, serious now!

I'm slowly getting ready for my Barclaycard PPP post, & as I have been getting all info from the relevant parties over a long period, I'm addressing the backlog to post the letters & CCA's etc.

Right-My T&C's originally I scanned on my cheapo scanner & saved in PDF format (in T & C's section (1999 B/Card))--but quality not brilliant (could be the original though)--but viewers have to click & effectively wait for Adobe Acrobat to load before they can view-which disrupts the readers flow.

So--- got access to a better scanner (all letters received converted via OCR into Word so pleased about that, as I can present a continuous events story easily, merging with my letters sent)--so just left with CCA's as supplied & T&C's.

So---as we all know better quality (resolution) means bigger file sizes.

Question is--When posting as an image within a post via Photobucket (seen within the post as against going to My Album), ---I can have a 500kb JPG or a 6MB Jpg (high quality)--As regards posting these 2 scenarios in a post within this site (VBulletin hosted) via Photobucket

--am I going to degrade the site service if I post a high quality (6MB) or are both scenarios identical?

All Images are scaled down to 1 MB so there shouldn't be a problem.

Limitations: 1 GB storage space; 25 GB/month bandwidth; 1MB (1024KB) file size limit; Extensions allowed: .jpg, .png, .gif, .bmp, .swf (Flash files);

Thanks Hocuspocus

So--when I have the choice of settings in the Scanning Program--am I right in assuming a scan at high res which produces a 6M-JPG will be no better than one at a setting of 1Mb-JPG --when posted here via Photobucket-- & using the normal Zoom tools to blow it up a bit?

hhhmm not sure about that one , I would post 2 under this thread always good to see work in practice

I would have thought it reduces it to 1mb so reduces the structure back again?
